Oh yes, I've mentioned the wire stitches on here before and no one knew what I was talking about. The internal stitches are disolvable stitches but the outside are wire. Tatum's were a little different - she had more than two wire stitches but can't remember how many. My vet explained that with little dogs, he likes to do that because it keeps them from messing with the incision. The good thing is you don't even need to put a onesie or anything on her because the wire stitches will discourage her from licking the incision. I think it's a great idea. It's really not as bad as it sounds for those of you who've never seen it. Tatum was curious about her incision but never messed with it and I think that's due to the wire stitches. The only person it really bothered was me because I'd forget and pick her up and get scratched. I guess in a way it was a good thing for me too because that would remind me not to touch her there! And the scar afterwards is no different with pups that have the wire stitches - haven't really inspected the site lately but from what I can remember, you can't even see Tatum's hardly anymore (it's been almost 2 years).
