I think if you can manage with only one....go for it. Plus, if you live in a town and are pretty close to everything, running back and forth with just car probably wouldn't be a big deal.

I, on the other hand, couldn't! I do stay at home, but I homeschool and am very active in several different groups. So, I couldn't NOT have a car. Plus, we live so far out, it is just better to have the extra.

My husband does have a company truck and they pay his gas, plus, he drives about an hour to get to work and home each day! We do have several extra cars that just sit around, but he gets the very basic (cheapest) insurance for those. Some he doesn't even tag or insure, because he buys and sells so much. He bought two cars for $25 each a while back --- YES, $25 each! The guy had to get them moved and that was the price the salvage yard was going to pay for them. These were nice cars (one was a 99 Grand Am and the other was a 98 Buick something or other). He just had to put a $20 part in one and do nothing to the other and turned around and sold them for $2500 each! WOW! Isn't that crazy?!
