All the Class dogs compete first, and after the various classes, the judge picks the Winners Dog (WD). The judge then judges all the class Bitches and picks a Winners Bitch (WB). Then the WD and WB go back into the ring and compete with the Champions for Best of Breed (BOB), Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed (BOS), and Best of Winners (WB), or better between the WD and WB. The WD and WB will win the “points” toward their championships. The number of points earned is based on the area of the country where the show is held and the number of dogs in competition. To complete a Championship, a dog must earn 15 points. These must include two major wins (3, 4, or 5 points) under two different judges and at least one point under a third judge. The BOB breed dog then competes in the Group Judging. At AKC shows all the breeds are divided into seven Groups: Sporting, Working, Hound, Terrier, Toy, Non-sporting, and Herding. The first place dog from each of the Groups them competes for Best in Show (BIS).

Requirements for UKC Champion Title
A minimum of 100 championship points
Points must be earned under at least three different UKC licensed Judges, and Win three Best Male/Female (or higher) classes at three different shows with competition under three different UKC licensed Judges.
one can accumulate his/her required 100 points without any competition in the ring but will not not receive his or her championship without competition, one needs (3) competition wins.

The AKC bases a major on the amount of bitchs/dogs entered into the competition. The more entered the higher the major with a maximum of 5 points, where as UKC you can point without any competition in the ring but requires a Best Male or Best female win to receive a competition win (not a major).

Best of Luck

Thank you for posting this information as I'm sure there are people out there who did not know this. I guess I didn't make myself as clear as I should have in my o/p. Probably because I wasn't thinking in terms of breaking everything down for everyone, just wanted to let some of my friends know that I'm hopeful and excited.

It has been my experience from showing in UKC and with other UKC competitors that when you receive your championship and then go for your grand championship in the champion class which is like BOB in AKC, that is a Major Win. My teacher who just so happens to have UKC champs and has been showing since the tender age of 15 has always referred to her Major Wins regarding UKC competition(s).

I am very hopeful to receive a Major Win someday as it is a goal to UKC competitors. If you ever compete in a UKC show, I'm sure you will find that their are many differences regarding some of their terms. Very different in many areas. No brushes or combs allowed in the ring. My teacher suggested that I do not even have them out at ringside. In the AKC you will see them sticking out of back pockets. I would also suggest to anyone who is interested to watch a junior's competition at a UKC show; 10 times tougher than in AKC. I have had to learn both of the club's rules and pts. systems.

I was very much aware of what a "major" meant in AKC but I appreciate you taking the time to post it for me. Best of luck to you too.
