Is it best to spay before or let her have one heat? And, I've read that her personality may change (I DO hope NOT! - she's so perfectly adorable, now), and she may gain weight?

On a side note: She's 5.7lbs, at 6 1/2 months. I figure her appetite is slower these days coz her mouth hurts from teething.

Thanks,
I certainly recommend spaying. We've always done that and have never regretted it. Because it is surgery, there is a risk. But I believe the risk of cancer later in life is greater. The old timers used to say that it was best to wait for a first heat, but that was just a myth. No. There is no personality change. I've never seen anything like that in my life. And, yes, it does hurt when their teeth are coming in. In fact, my present yorkie got downright sick and threw up a couple of times and just stayed in bed a couple of days, but it soon passed. I gave her ice and things to chew on to help her teeth come in. I have a whole bunch of her baby teeth that I kept!
