I've never been good at crate training either. I just couldn't let my pups cry at night. After all, it is the first time they are away from their mother and litter mates and are alone. I'm sure they don't understand what this is all about. I think they are afraid and lonesome.....
So my dogs start sleeping with me from the first night on - and there is never a squeak..... and they also have generally slept for 5 or 6 hours and (lo and behold), they haven't been bed wetters either. I get them up and out of the bed as soon as they wake up in the morning.
