I also agree with daily brushing and giving raw meaty bones as a chew. Nyla bones are awful - I've read about some dogs needed surgery after ingesting the broken off bits.
In addition to brushing, I also use this product called PetzLife Oral Care gel. It's pretty amazing and get rid of their tartar and bad breathe that even brushing couldn't get rid of.
