You did the right thing taking your pup to the university for the autopsy......as a new, first time yorkie owner, you must get your hands on anything you can, to educate yourself about this precious breed....they have issues that other breeds do not have......vets do not always know about things that Yorkies have a lower or adverse tolerance to, unless they have a large Yorkie practice. There are blood sugar issues, anesthesia issues, intolerance to particular shots/meds/vaccines that other dogs do not have.....you have to select a vet like you select a pediatrician for your kids, because what that vet knows about Yorkies, is all that stands between your pup and Death. Get two books to start off with...."Yorkies for Dummies" and "Yorkshire Terriers: A Smart Owners Guide"....these two books contain all the most vital information you will need to know in order to keep that baby healthy and alive. There is a check list, I think, of important things you should be asking any vet you are selecting, so you will know that they are small dog specialists and even have the knowledge base to provide care for small dogs in general, Yorkies in particular.
