Excellent advice.
Hope this will ease your mind a bit -- little Butterbean is 4 years old and weighs around 2.5 lbs on a good day. His mommy (my neighbor) has had almost every medical test known to man

done on him and he is very healthy, just small. The biggest worry with Butter is making sure he doesn't skip a meal. He is a "farm dog" and needs all of his calories so that he doesn't run out of energy while on duty chasing chickens, squirrels and other critters out of the back yard.
So if I had any additional advice to add to the above it would be to feed him the highest quality food you can find and be sure that he doesn't skip meals.
