It could be the quality of the dog food, some are higher in fat that others. Mine get 1/4 cups in the am andpm along with a little wet food in the pm. During the day they get a carrot each and sometimes a little piece of cheese. When they go to the vet and have gained weight I know my husband has been falling prey to the "daddy, we are starving to death". Sad eyes and has been giving them extra treats and needs to stop or I will make him take them to the vet and let him listen to the lecture.

It could also be lack of exercise. We have had a very bad winter here at the jersey shore. It has only been lately that I have been able to take mine to the little dog park in Oceanport. There are many beaches that allow dogs until the start of the season. Asbury park has a dog beach up at the north end and Manasquan has an all year dog beach.

Welcome to YT, neighbor.
