I have an acquaintance who is a member of the Wichita Paranormal Society. My daughter went on an investigation with the group...I think it was at the old Wichita Historical Museum. In the past, the members have seen and heard the spirit of a cat walking down a hallway (I think always on the 3rd floor). My daughter has always had a very special way with animals (whether at the zoo or on the nature trail where deer will come right up to her.) While she was on the investigation, the spirit cat came to the floor where she was (which was not the 3rd floor). Scared her so bad she left right after that. I do believe the spirits of our furbabies do watch over us. I know the Paranormal Group believe in animal spirits!
