I let Tibbe chew on his rawhide rectangles that he plays with and hides every single day of his life but won't let him chew orr or swallow any part of it. When he starts chewing, I move him to my lap, watch & hold and let him chew until he's got a part ready to pull or bite off, then trash that one. He gets so mad but I don't care! I don't want a piece of that stuff in his gut maybe getting lodged or something so he just gets to chew a while until they are soft on the edge. He loves to chew but his tummy has been iffy this year so I don't want him swallowing anything into it but his food. At night, I collect all his chews around the house where he's hidden them, including in the cushion crevices and throw them away and the next day we start out with new ones from the bag. He thinks he's getting a new present every day, getting 4 or 6 poured out for him and he one by one gets them and runs all over the house hiding them and usually saves one to throw and chase, bait me with. I wish he could just be turned loose to chew to his heart's desire and bite, swallow and all that but he can't so we have to make do.
