Thank you for all your concerns. I am glad to report that today was a good day, first good day in about a week. He drank alot of homemade bland chicken broth, and about seven tablespoons of bland rice and chicken mixture with a little baby food of sweet potatoes.
I was able to walk him in the afternoon and he had a semi decent bowel movement, without any pain.
All is stable for now, and he even had frozen cubes of chicken broth. I think his hydration will pick up, his energy has slowly come back too. He even played with his toy which he hasn't in over five days.
He is comfortable and at ease at home, something that I doubt he would have in a cage with IV overnight. There is something to say about the psychology behind a dog and instincts to be with his pack (aka family).
Even when my husband arrives, his energy and joy seems to increase.
I hope for a steady upward healing tomorrow. I have a followup appointment with the vet on saturday.
