It's true that the scamers will sometimes ask high prices for their puppy mill dogs. That is why it is important to investigate the breeder. Go to the place and look at the dogs and how they are kept. Look at their pedigrees. Any reputable breeder will welcome a visit to their home and be more than willing to explain the lines they are working with and show you what shows they have attended and their wins. They should be proud of the conditions they keep their dogs under. They will have references from the clubs they are part of and from other breeders they know. Research the breeder.
