Cali shakes the cotton out too. She also likes her swimming pool so can't use cotton there. Our vet gave us some stuff that really works well - Pharmaseb, FLUSH. Don't know if you can only get it from the vet or not.
After her bath, or swim, I just squirt it into each ear, she shakes some of it out, but that is all it takes. If they ever swim in a pond or lake this would be even more important I think.
