It's varies from person to person and what different vets will tell you. A lot of people wait until around 1 year but I just switched Toki around 6 months. I wanted to switch her to something grain-free from a smaller company that used quality ingredients so that kinda limits your options if you stick strictly to puppy formulas!

I picked a grain-free formula that had similar amounts of protein/fat/nutrients that a puppy formula would have. She is doing really well! Toki weighs a whopping 9 1/2 pounds and is very strong and active!

And I'm looking to add another young dog/puppy as well! I think it will be easier for Toki to accept a new housemate/playmate when she is younger than waiting until she is a couple years older. I think this is largely why she annoys the buhjeezus out of our 7 y/o beagle and senior yorkie when I take her back home to visit the family! They're not that interested in getting their ears pulled on by a young'n! haha
