If this were an emergency situation where she was inactive, unresponsive, or otherwise acting abnormally I would make it work. But this puppy is only having issues with diarrhea. This would hardly be a situation that would require inconveniencing friends and family to have someone watch the children and/or take them out of our home to an emergency vet 30 miles away. |

They sleep in bed with me at night, have a wardrobe of dresses, tutus, shirts, bows, ribbons, get a high quality dog food not some grocery store brand, receive veterinary prescription heartworm and flea preventative, and get the best veterinary care. I own my own home outright (paid in full), I have my own vehicle, I can take care of my pets. There are some people who have no right to own a pet because they can't afford their own bills. You're right, I need to stick around here to get "advice" which is belittling and demeaning by people who don't know me and misjudged the situation....not to mentioned threatened my family. Unbelievable.... |
I understand you're upset, and I understand why. If you feel threatened by someone, I can imagine the concern you must feel. It appears that you suspect someone here, and that's fine - that's your prerogative; however, without proof we can't say that anyone here is responsible. Many, MANY people read this board who aren't even members - so it could've been anyone, from anywhere on this planet. I'm not invalidating what you're feeling, but I'm just saying that it's not a fact that whomever is harassing you is from here.
I don't know what "a puppy is a puppy" actually means, bc it doesn't resonate with me. I'm guessing from the rest of the 1st post above, that you mean as compared to other living creatures...specifically humans. Again, it's absolutely your prerogative to value one creature over another - however, not all people feel that way, especially not on a dog forum, ya know

? I value the lives of animals in such a way that I'm sure other people think I'm weird - but that's who I am, and that's what I feel in my heart is their value.
Yorkie puppies w/ diarrhea can die within the same day - we've seen it here a hundred times. Maybe it helps to know that history when trying to understand how passionate everyone became about your pup. But, it really is true that puppies are extremely fragile - I mean, the pup you have has only been in existence for what...6 or 8 weeks? Correlate that age to how fragile a human baby is the first 6mths of life.
I got my Marcel when he was 4mths old - he was very small. About 2wks later, he contracted giardia and could've died. I got him to the vet after 1 day - and he had to be on IV fluids etc bc his body couldn't adequately deal with the illness w/ the age of his immune system. Had I posted on here for a couple days instead of bringing him to the vet, he wouldn't be here curled up in my lap right now. That's why people get upset here, bc that's what we've seen many times over.
The bottom line is - you got your baby to the Vet, and she will be okay now. Personally, I would've gotten her there sooner, but you were lucky. All I can say is - I'm super grateful that she is okay and that she is still with you. Keep her close, and err on the side of caution...and it should be okay. You won't regret being overly cautious, but you could definitely regret not being cautious enough, ya know?
