A dog with congential defects will not show any signs until they are a bit older, say 5 yrs+. A seemingly healthy dog at 3 yrs could very well need LP surgery at 5 or 6. Has your vet checked for LP? Most if not the majority of puppymill, byb, broker yorkies have LP. My Uni does, and my foster Scraps does as well. As they get older it gets worse.
