So today Ziggy and I go on our walk just like any other day. Except things nearly turned my life upside down. Now let me say this up front, I am a Big dog person, I love them, Ziggy is my first small dog, Toby is a big dog too, so I by no means blame the dog

There is a house we walk by that has a very large male Rottweiler and in South Africa have tall walls around every house so that's never an issue on walks. But today as we're about to pass, the dog's owners come home from work

So I pull Ziggy and make the leash much tighter and walk faster. Two minutes later something tells me to turn around, and what I saw I will never forget. This Rotti is Charging full force behind us! I quickly pick Ziggy up and (from watching Cesar Milan I know I need to claim my space and Ziggy) so I stop, turn and face the charging dog and yell "NO!" "Stop!"

It worked! But because the dog was so fast he was already right next to me when he stopped, literally an inch from my waist and we were at a stand off! I stared it right in the eye, and maintained my "No". Slowly it starts backing away but still looking at Ziggy. So I yell "No" again, showing him this is My property, dont look at it! Finally its owners run out to get him and he follows them home. They asked if Ziggy and I were ok, and I said all was fine and walked away!

This was so scary. But thank goodness I stood my ground.

I just wanted to warn everyone reading this not to panick in such situations, our babies look to us to protect them, so I knew I had to be strong even though I was shaking with fear, I couldn't show it or else Ziggy would be gone, I probably would have been very badly injured!

On a lighter finally note, Ziggy didn't bark and show fear at all. He was just looking at me like: "mommy can we go now, I wanna finish sniffing that yard!" lol

You were amazing! Great instinct! You even remembered Cesar Milan's advice at that moment. So glad nothing bad happened.
