I had to put a dog to sleep last fall - and my Bichon missed her a lot. He wasn't playful and moped around a lot. About two months after I lost my dog, I got my little Yorkie.

At first, my Bichon (a shy dog) stayed away from the little pup. But that was an impossible feat - since the puppy wouldn't leave him alone for a second. And, within two weeks, they became fast friends. My Bichon's whole personality has changed. He is more playful, more affectionate, eats better -- and all is well again!

I'm sure I could have gotten the new puppy sooner and it would have worked out just as well.

I see no reason to wait - if you do want another dog. If your dog doesn't take to the new pup immediately - give them a few weeks - they will become great friends!
