The problem might be bigger than both of you. I have a little guy who is great about pottying on the pads or outside if I'm there to take him and it's "convenient" for him. But he's just as happy lifting his leg on the baseboard or the entertainment center if there's no compelling reason not to. I don't agree with the folks who abandon their Yorkies because of potty issues, but I think I understand it. It's a mess... I made belly bands out of chamois cloths and sanitary pads, and it saves the carpet. I don't just band them up and leave them. I let them out on a schedule that encourages going outside. But if you have to choose between banding your Yorkie and keeping him/her, and letting the dog roam and ruining your home, then I say, "band the dog!" I swear Maxie comes over to me now to say his "sham-wow" is wet and needs to be changed.
