Lynn, please don't worry about it. You did what you should have done. Your vet (the ONLY one here that has a license to practice veterinary medicine) said it is okay to wait. I don't think there are any indications here that the vet thinks this is an emergency situation. If it had to be done today, they would have told you so.
If I was a vet, I wouldn't want somebody with the flu coming through my office for a recheck that can wait. YOUR VET is the only one qualified to tell you if it has to be done today.
For the record, I don't care how sick I am, I still come online and post. If I had the flu and my dog was dying and/or the vet said they had to come in immediately, then I'd absolutely find a way. But for a recheck that a vet says can wait...no.
Honestly, I love dogs but I don't think they are more important than people. Yes, some animals need advocates, but not one whose owner has spent 8 grand on her!
