OP if you can't afford the initial cost to purchase the yorkie I would hold off getting one til you can afford it. I believe it costs at least $1,000 per yr for a dog with the first year begin at least double. So you should have at least $4,000 put aside specifically for the dog before you purchase. The initial cost of the dog is peanuts compared to what you will pay overall for the dog.
Yorkies are an expensive breed. Little bodies with big medical problems. I was at the vets for my Golden and this poor guy came running in hold a poodle puppy in his arms. He said is wife was going to kill him. The puppy jumped off the sofa while he was watching television on the sofa with the puppy. It shattered it's leg. They had only gotten the puppy a few weeks before. It was going to cost him at $1800 according to the vet to repair the leg initially. A poodle puppy is about as delicate as a yorkie puppy.
I joke I go to work for my animals but it is the truth I spend more on them each month than myself. I put $250 aside each month into a pet emergency fund for sudden illnesses. |
