A 3-year-old purebred dog that’s been the “saving grace” for a Sheboygan family grieving the death of their teenage son has been reported stolen.
The dog, a white West Highland Terrier named Lucy Lu, and her seven puppies were allegedly stolen last week while staying with a dog breeder in rural Crystal Lake, Ill.
Family members said today the situation has left them heartbroken, as their relationship with Lucy Lu runs deep given the dog’s bond with their late son Jake, who committed suicide in May 2009 at the age of 17.
