Vets don't always have specialized training in specific breeds. A yorkie can pretty much do a slam bam thank you ma'am. I've read some breeders say, it can be less than a minute. I understand why the vet would want to wait till 6 months, this gives the bone plates a chance to close and baby teeth can be pulled at this time.
