I personally like Jacob. James is my second favorite, but I just dont' think he has IT!!! Adam Lambert had IT.....and has done pretty well, but to me James just doesn't quite have the stage presence. I loved Adam Lambert on Idol, but I have not been a fan of his since he left the show. I think I will like James even after Idol. They are similar in many ways, but there is something about the emotion in James that gets to me when he sings. Adam definitely has emotion, but I am not sure how much of that is from his acting career before idol. Like someone else said, for the new group a lot of that will come with experience.
