Heartworm test yearly. Shouldn't use preventative year-round in most states.
Fecal at least yearly.
Exam to check heart, lungs, gums, abdomen, etc. Very necessary. |
Is it bad to keep them on preventative year round?
I am in woodsy Northern Virginia and there are only 2-3 months out of the year that the buggies aren't in business. Even during Dec, Jan, Feb, we have warm spells where the flies, moths, and who knows what else come out. I keep my boys on Interceptor year round to protect against all of the things in addition to heartworm that the pills supposedly guard against.
