I got a puppy that tested positive for giardia and just like you didn't want my kids, myself or my other yorkie to get it. My 2 yorkies slept together in the laundry room area and were together all day long. They are pee pad trained (at least my older yorkie is) so I cleaned up after them when they went - right away. I really didn't use any special cleansers - just a regular cleaning solution when he missed the pads. Thank goodness, my othe yorkie did not get - and my paranoia had the vet test them both tested twice after that. They say it is hard to detect and hard to get rid of. So for precautions, I have been sprinkling diatemaceous earth into their food. This is a natural substance (no chemicals) and will get rid of any types of parasites. So far so good.

Don't worry. If you clean up after the puppy - right away - you should have no problems getting rid of the giardia.

Good luck.
