And the roller coaster went up and down again...I went Tuesday afternoon to get the Baytril, Lactulose and Hills U/D food and started her on it that night. She was feeling much better, up until that point. The next morning (yesterday) I fed her the special diet and gave her the Lactulose. She was feeling AWFUL all day. She wasn't moving much and when she was, she was tilting her head to the side, almost looking like she was straining it, even while sitting down. When she saw that I was getting ready to leave she sat there and whined. She just looked like she was in some sort of pain. So, I took her BACK to the vet. Her regular vet was back, saw and examined her. He says he doesn't agree with his partner on the shunt issue - that her levels were under 100, even while on the meds. Her mouth was totally dry from the Lactulose so he gave her water with a syringe. He told me to take her OFF the Lactulose and OFF the special diet and to give her her regular diet and just the antibiotics. So she came home and slept until time for her dinner. After eating her regular food again last night, she seemed fine (for her since the false pregnancy thing started) again! She was happy, feeling better, going up and down the stairs - the way she was before she started the special diet and Lactulose. She seems fine this a.m. too after eating her regular diet but I just gave her the antibiotic and am curious to see if that affects her. If she "goes down" again shortly, then it may be the antibiotic now. I really appreciate all your comments and concerns and am considering everything and am learning a lot. I am going to have the vet cut out some of those unnecessary shots in the future, and have already bought some Lamb & Rice food which she loves and am going to investigate some other foods that arent' quite so high in the protein. I have never gone through anything like this before and it has been awful!
