well At Xmas or Thanksgiving which is fast coming up; I always crate my dogs. They are used to their crates; it is their den, so no hardship for them.
Then when all the guests are settled in, and comfortable and want to see the doggies, we bring one out at a time. We observe, we have on lead. We observe the children, some are too young, they can't help themselves, with running up, waving arms around, high pitched loud voices etc. Before we bring a dog out the kids are instructed by us, as what to do or not to do.
If things don't go well the dog is crated, behind a locked door when children, company are around.
