I know what you mean about feeling guilty. I had to put down an old rescue poodle. We'd had her for 8 or 9 years and she was an old dog when we got her. I still have guilty feelings. I took her in to see if the vet could do anything for her. He said it would be humane to euthenize her. I feel like I let her down. The vet estimated her age at 18 or 19.

The only other dog I ever had to put down had kidney failure and there was no hope for her. She was so sick. I hated it but she was suffering so badly.

I held them as they died. I felt I owed it to them.
