Yorkies go through lots of changes in hair coloring the first three years. Joey's head started turning silver shortly after I got him at 12 weeks. His body stayed dark, but his head turned almost pure silver at 11 months, and then seemingly overnight it turned tan. His head and legs remain a very light tan which looks blondish to me, and his body is considered blue, which is very dark gunmetal black. So the hair on the body, you want to stay dark, and the hair on the head can be tan or a richer gold color. The proper Yorkie coat is one of the most difficult to obtain of all the breeds. I do think many breeders lie or purposely underestimate adult weight, but you need to find a breeder who knows the line, because that's more important than just mom and dad's sizes. I don't know if you have children, but an 8 pound dog is safer if you have kids.
