Getting your puppy while you off of work would be the best thing but as ManolosMom said it might take you awhile to find a quality pup - so I'd start looking

Going back to work after being home with them is fine - like someone else stated - just take breaks leaving the house for short periods of time to get them use to it.

Nine hours is a very long time for a young pup. Maybe you could find an older one.
