I use ceramic too. What I use is a very shallow "tart" bowl, do you know what I mean? They're often white, and used to bake tarts in....maybe an inch or so high? I just love these for yorkies bc of their height. So, maybe try a plate or a tart bowl? (also called creme brulee bowls)
