Welcome to YT. I hope your baby just took a wrong step and will be fine with a few days rest and the vet's recommendations, especially since he didn't see anything on x-rays.
My 7mo old was recently diagnosed with hip displaysia. It is more common in large breed dogs so I was surprised by this diagnosis, and I am still not convinced it is not Legg Perthes. We are taking the wait and see approach right now and she is not even on any medication although she does carry her leg occasionally. Time will tell for future medical needs. My vet felt her condition through a physical exam, and with x-rays, so I am really hoping your baby just took a wrong step.
