That's pretty cool that the breeder does that, I think it's great when they are involved like that. Yeah, I've wondered if thieves would do that, they say it's good to never have anything on the tags to indicate the dogs are chipped. Most of the time a dog isn't stolen, it's just runaway, and in these cases a successful return is more likely.
Yorkietalk member my2boyz said that she's has had a two dogs returned because they were chipped, dogs who have no identification have only a 10% chance of being returned. So the benefits greatly outweigh the risks.
