I'm not sure you are going to be able to do much if internist doesn't want to, but all I can tell you is I don't think I'd want to wait 3 months to recheck. I also think since there are more bile acids problems, supplementation and/or diet change is probably not a bad thing.
his gall bladder could have contracted as well when they did the bile acids so that can throw off the test. I do not think he acquired a shunt as his numbers would be over 100 then - again i would not stress at all - my dog had 73 then 54 now 26 on low protein diet and has never had any symptoms. Some vets feel treat the dog not the blood work as blood work can be off due to many different variables
