I think it depends on the personality of the dog as well as the child. They both have to be kind and respectful to one another. Just like people. Some adults are not crazy about children and don't want to be around them. And some children have no respect for animals because they were not taught this from their parents. Every situation is unique. I think dogs have an innate sense of whom they do and do not want touching them. My personal opinion is that every child should be taught to love and respect all living things. It is what nature intended.
