I think they need exercise also, as well as fresh air ...we all do, animals & people need to keep moving for muscles, circulation, good bowel movements. If you don't keep moving someday you might not be able to. I walk mine every day & he can't wait, he loves to be outside in the fresh air. In house exercise just isn't the same, though it is better than none at all.
