You'll want a 67mm UV Protection Filter, like this one (or any generic 67mm UV filter) for your 18-105mm.

If your 70-300 is this one: Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED IF AF-S VR Zoom Nikkor, then the 67mm will also fit that lens , yay! If it's the non-VR, then I think you might need a 52mm filter.

Lastly, it's nice to get an extra battery at some point, bc then when your battery runs down, you can charge one while using the other....but no hurry on that, ya know?

So excited for you!
Ann, that post you linked is exactly what made me think of filters! But when I went looking for that thread it was in I couldn't find it. I think this is the lens that comes with the package I'm ordering Amazon.com: Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6G AF Zoom...Amazon.com: Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6G AF Zoom... . I would prefer the VR but I'm just not ready to spend the extra $$$, especially for my occasional needs.

I'm confused because it says this lens is frequently bought with a 52mm filter, but further down it says this lens accepts 62mm filters. Huh? So do I need the 52mm or the 62mm?

I just marked the 67mm you linked to order for the kit lens. I'm going back now to look at an extra battery - great idea on that!! That should pretty much do it then? I hope so - the $$$ added up fast on this purchase.
