Carter was 3.1# when he was neutered at 7 months and is still 3.1# at 8 1/2 months. The vet used the isoflourine (I think that is what it is . . . its the "iso" anesthesia) and Carter had no problems at all.
He has never marked and now shouldn't in the future either!
He came home the same afternoon with his glue stitches.
