Default mine is 3.5 lbs

My Yorkie, Charlie, is a tiny, weighing in at 3.5 lbs. He is very healthy, so far, (knock on wood) and he is the most wonderful little pet! You have to be careful, of course, around kids and around the house, but I really don't think that size is an issue. He is really playful, loves going up to big dogs on the street, and gets along really well with my 14 lb pug, who is a terror at times! I think the size of the dog doesn't matter, so much as the health. You'll know if it's a healthy puppy when you see it! Should be playful, bright eyes, etc... I really can't say that my Charlie has had to have special care or more trips to the vet because of his size.

I had a 6 lb Yorkie before and they are still quite delicate. His personality was much different than Charlie's and he had a lot of separation anxiety and was very timid.

You just gotta use common sense. Supervise the little Yorkie with kids and bigger dogs and he/she should be fine.
