I'm not sure what you should do, it just made me remember back to when Callie was a puppy and to small to jump on the couch so she would get a running start jump as high as she could and then climb the rest of the way up it was so cute and funny although the couch eventualy had to be replaced after she was big enough to jump up there completly with out climbing! I used to curl up under a blanket and be on my laptop so i loved her curled up with me on my legs. Our couch is pressed up against a wall and he favorite spot is to jump on the back of the couch and sleep.
