There are a couple baby gates out there that offer extensions to be able to fit any kind of space you really need them to. (Try securebaby.com)

The downside it that by the time you buy the extensions you might be looking at around $200-300 with shipping. Do you know anyone who is handy with tools and wood? If you happen to know (or are willing to hire) someone who runs a handyman business they should be able to build you one for less.

I haven't looked at how much the materials run theses days, but you should be able to throw something together pretty easily with some wooden lattice and some cheap pine to frame it with.
