You can however register ANY mixed breed with AKC to participate in different games and competitions. But it is a different deal, you DO NOT need to have pedigrees or parents that are registered at all, it will also keep NO parentage or lineage record on a mixed, and you can only register your mix after it has been FIXED.
They do that because they support RESPONSIBLE pet ownership and sponsor spay/neuter.


You are not registering your Mixed Breed with AKC but, are given a number to allow you to participate in Companion Events with other mixed breeds. A show onto itself and not part of Pure Breed Events.
