I got two sets of Hemostats from Amazon for $5. I didn't have to use them with Kalina's litter. I just used a clean rag to pull out the placenta and tied the cord about 1/4 inch from the belly and snipped just beyond that. All the bellies look really good. I do think it's good to have the hemostate on hand though...I was lucky and had fairly long cords.
