Ironically, I am a genetics counselor for humans, so I'm sure I'll be able to handle a dog's genetic aspects. Maybe that is why I'm being so careful and attempting to learn even more about this particular breed and its breeding. Free whelping...I'll learn the terminology.

Yes, I learned somewhere. I found a mentor; an exhibitor breeder that forced me to learn everything I could, attend seminars, classes, study genetics, whelping, breeding. Did not sell me a puppy for nearly 2 years, until she knew my heart was in the right place and knew that I was breeding to improve the breed. Making me understand that in order to breed a good dog you had to start with the best foundation your money could buy. She made me assist her in whelping and did not allow me to breed until I'd finished 3 Champions. j
Good Luck
