I hear people say all the time not to have yorkies around kids but I have to disagree. I have 7 grandkids ranging from 2 months to 14 years old and (all of them except the baby of course) have been taught how fragile these little ones are and are very gentle with them. Our furkids love being around the grandkids. They run and play with them the entire time they are here. (We also taught the grandkids the Yorkie shuffle) so no danger of stepping on one of them. So I say it all depends on the child and how you teach them. They have to be trained right along with the puppies. Lolita at first had issues when the kids were running with Laddy and would snarl and snap at them but when that happened we just laid her on her side and made her lay there and let the kids slowly pet her until she quit barking and biting at them. |
