Well I would think if you put too much of it on the animal, and directly onto the skin it could cause problems. I just put a dab on my finger and then transfer it to the wrap. Eventually, they get the hint and leave them alone. Doesn't take but a couple of days. Not every dog requires it but, there are those that have that super attitude and will give you a run for your money.
