I am sorry to hear this. I had my yorkie, Dixie last year who I got at 6 months old from a reputable breeder, who Pixie is also from. I noticed shortly after getting her that her pee was clear and no odor. They tested her urine and found she wasn't concentrating her urine so they did a BUN and they called me an hout later saying there was nothing they could do she was in kidney failure. Her Bun was so high it didn't register on their machine. I couldn't believe it since she seemed ok, played ok, was a picky eater but never imagined this. I asked for a referral to a kidney specialist who said he had a lot of success with yorkies and kidney failure and that they can live with 27% kidney function. They did an ultrasound and her kidney's were so tiny and undeveloped, but we proceeded with treatment of IV fluids and started her on 3 out of 6 meds she would have to be on and within 2 days she was literally on death's door. She had such a terrible odor from the uremic poisoning that I had to sleep with perfume on my hands. I took her back to the specilaist and her BUN was 600 and nothing could be done. Her Bun had been around 400 the week before. He said due to her kidneys being so underdeveloped treatment wouldn't work. I had to put her to sleep. The Bun on your baby is not too bad and if his kidney's are ok on an ultrasound it could be something else throwing off the BUN score or there may be a lot of things they can do to help him. I know how panicked you must be right now but I would suggest a retest of hos BUN and if it is still high ask for a kidney specialist to see him. Please keep us posted and if I can help in any way let me know. I will keep him in mmy prayers.
