My personal preference is to visit the breeder in person and see the puppy and it's parents. I would never have a puppy shipped.

I like to see for myself the conditions where the puppy is being raised, and also meeting the breeder in person. The YTCA recommends so many breeders in so many states, that it's hard to believe a buyer couldn't find a reputable breeder within driving distance.
